In the first half of 2023, Trend Micro blocked more than 85.6 billion cybersecurity threats globally, consisting of email threats, malicious files and malicious URLs.

Recently, Trend Micro reported a 27% year-over-year increase in the number of cybercriminal activities it blocked in the first half of this year. And one thing that’s fueling the increase in cyber attacks is companies’ adoption of AI, according to the report.

As the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more commonplace, over-reliance on this technology could pose problems for employers. There was a 27 per cent year-over-year increase in the number of cybercriminal activities blocked by Trend Micro, and AI played a role in this increase, according to a previous report.

Trend Micro, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has joined the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX) to contribute knowledge assets and threat insights and to help support cyber resilience across the country. The CCTX is Canada’s national cyber threat sharing and collaboration hub. Trend Micro Technical Director Antoine Saikaley sat down with Julian Lee at eChannel News to discuss this collaboration, how it supports the community and how factors such as AI are evolving the cybersecurity landscape.

Global cybersecurity provider Trend Micro has announced the launch of its latest global Cyber Risk Index (CRI) for the second half of 2022. According to the results, the overall global cyber-risk levels have improved from “elevated” to “moderate” for the first time. While North America and Canada still stand at an elevated risk level, Canada received a score of -0.03, which shows an improvement compared to the first half of the year (-0.30). Although Canada has steadily shown improvement year after year, there is still work to be done. According to Jon Clay, VP of threat intelligence at Trend Micro, "Canadian organizations must continue to take steps to improve their cyber-preparedness so they can stay ahead of the ever-evolving threats, especially since most anticipate a breach within the next year."
With the launch of Bing's new AI and the release of ChatGPT 4, the technology paradigm shift is gaining even more speed. In an interview with e-Channel News' Secure Connections Podcast, VP of cybersecurity at Trend Micro, Greg Young, discussed the importance of securing environments in today's landscape.
