Global cybersecurity firm Trend Micro announced the launch of its Cloud One regional datacentre in Canada to help its Canadian clients uphold data residency, safeguard data privacy and reduce the risk of a security breach.

Most IT teams believe that working from home has become a “ticking time bomb” that might lead to a corporate network breach, according to a recent survey from HP Inc. This finding was in line with a survey from global cybersecurity company Trend Micro that found 84% of North American companies polled expect a data breach of customer records within the next 12 months compared to 74% last year.

Carleton University is partnering with some of Ottawa’s leading tech firms on a new initiative aimed at closing the gender gap in fields such as science, technology, engineering and math. Trend Micro is one of them and Adam Boyle, vice-president of hybrid cloud security is quoted.

Trend Micro Incorporated, a global cybersecurity leader, and Carleton University have partnered to support more women pursuing careers in STEM through the Women in Engineering and Information Technology (WiE&IT) Program, launching this September. As one of the first sponsored programs of its kind in Canada, it aims to close the gender gap in STEM careers by providing women undergraduate and graduate-level students access to tools, knowledge, and resources for a successful transition into the workforce.
